Bumble Bee
As our little ones join their first year of preschool, it is gentle transition from 'Daycare' to a more structured programme. Our Bumble Bee's are gently introduced to the 4 key aspects of their educational journey whilst the 3 prime areas are still heavily focused on.
By the end of Bumble Bee's we anticipate for your child to be able to communicate freely, express key information about themselves, family & feelings, identify friends, shapes and colours. They should have a sufficient level of personal and self care to include being potty trained, be able to follow 2 step instruction & have a good grasp of both fine and gross motor skills.
Mining Bee
During the second year of the preschool journey, we begin to hone in on the academic side of their developmental journey. The balance between academics and social development is crucial as we begin the foundations in academics. Throughout this year at the Hive we will ensure that your child builds a creative imagination, a solid sense of self confidence and awareness. Alongside exploring their academic knowledge, students will be taught responsibility and positive communication skills. Some of the skills we anticipate our Mining Bee's to be able to manage are: identify some letters, begin the writing process, identify their name, count and identify quantities up to 10, speak about the weather, their families & surroundings, hold a conversation and ask questions.
Carpenter Bee
It is time for your pride and joy to prepare to transition into & enter Primary Education. Throughout this year at the Hive we will ensure they are suited for the next step of their educational journey. We will master their ability to communicate, problem solve & socialise whilst solidifying the necessary academics needed to thrive in Kindergarten. As the children are introduced to a structured phonics programme we anticipate they will be able to reach the following goals by the end of their Carpenter Bee year: spell their name, identify some CVC words, orally count to 20, write numbers and recognise quantities to 10, scribe and identify the alphabet, know alphabet sounds, draw and identify shapes, hold a meaningful conversation, discuss past and present events, speak of key personal information, among many more milestones. All students will be able to transition into their chosen Primary Education setting as happy, comfortable, self-aware children who have a love for learning.
Routine
After our children join the Preschool at The Hive, our schedule becomes more dedicated to the 7 areas of our learning development and thus has directed activities alongside child-led activities.. All preschool departments spend time interacting with each other to aid in the peer learning.
